White and Light

The last round of shows let us believe that with all the troubles in the world, we could cuddle up and embrace 'homely', womanly and familiar shapes to comfort us from the economical storm. Spring Summer 2011 is no exception. In New York at the moment, all attention is turned to white and light palettes in order to conjure happier thoughts, it's noticeable that black is absent from the catwalk and for very good reason too.
Alexander Wang's spectacular collection featured intricate straps and exquisite detail in the cut, producing and entirely white and pastel collection. His vision for summer is minimal feminism and it looks as though he's taken inspiration from fellow American's Calvin Klein and Narciso Rodriguez.
BCBG Max Azria did an incredible job, once again, creating a must have series of pieces that flow and grace any shape or size.
Carolina Herrera is a main stay of New York Fashion Week and with big names in the front row, her collection didn't disappoint. It's classic lines in check, styling was fun and the vision, captivating.
Lacoste's longevity is down to it's wear ability, and starting with a very black and white palette, then launching into colour that might require sunglasses to view, shows that a formula, tried and tested, is a fail safe method to keep the customers happy.
