Australian Story | Russell James

The fact that international fashion photographer, Russell James showed Donna Karan around Redfern's Community Center in October last year, as well as Taboo from The Black Eyed Peas with relative obscurity is a double edged sword. In the case of generating greater publicity surrounding his Nomad Two World exhibition slated to lunch in Berlin in August, these opportunities slipped by. However it's quite the coo that the fashion industry was none the wiser on legendary Donna Karan's quiet sojourn around town.
The ABC's Australian Story outlined the rise to photographic fame for Russell James last night. His relationships with many influential people has led to this new collaboration raising awareness for indigenous issues following on from the prime ministers apology to indigenous people. Sir Richard Branson flashed his behind along side Russell James, showing that he's completely relaxed in the company he's keeping, happy to bring a jovial approach to a very important cause.
The significance of bringing Aboriginal art to the international forefront marks a considerable pride expressed through this Australian Story episode, watch if you can. Brilliant viewing.
