Paris AW10 | Day Six
Of the nun variety, all head covers and wing like capes took inspiration from trying to solve a problem like Maria. Yves Saint Laurent designer Stefano Pilati famously dodged the question proposed by Anna Wintour, "No colour Stefano?" buy including only the sporadic green or purple garment throughout the very black and white show, bringing it home with electric coloured silk at the end.
Vanessa Bruno relaxed her whole show with pieces that didn't constrict the body in any way. Her colour palette was true to her style and the overall collection has evolved with her maturity.
Thank goodness Linsday Lohan wasn't allowed to get her mits any where near the Emanuel Ungaro show this season, she did her dash, and now it's time to sit back and watch the professionals do it. The only problem was that they didn't come up with any new ideas either, all the looks put forward could have been from anyone, no innovation as far as the eye could see.
I couldn't get my head around the Kenzo show either. It was one big roll in the hay and as far as I'm concerned, Chanel nailed it last season, let it be.
However, completely restoring my faith in the fact that there is true talent to witness, Stella McCartney provided the most incredibly serene collection of the moment to capture what's happening in international fashion. Portraying knitwear, skirts, jumpers and jackets that will surely rival those of Celine, Stella McCartney is the label of all labels that equates to the modern day trickle down effect. It will only be a matter of time before this style is available in all the chain stores, and sad as it is, to copy is still the highest form of flattery.
