Fashion Photography

I referred back to my collection of magazines to find favourite images and moments in fashion. Many of the big advertising campaigns are shot by these 5 featured photographers. I found an image from Stephen Meisel and love the fact that many of the models in this shot are still going strong, and their careers have taken all over the world. Meisel's shots are quite editorial and he tends to capture a busy scene either with lots of people or lots of prints very well.
Then there's Nick Night who finds the shocking value in his otherwise very still shots. This model is also a disabled athlete and her prosthetic legs feature in the shot, not noticeable at first glance. I am a huge admirer of Mario Testino's work, he gets a very real expression from his subjects faces and I have followed his career ever since he took Princess Diana's photographs months before she died.
I've saved the best shots until last, with the border between fashion and art very finely crossed by Patrick Demarchelier and Paolo Roversi. Demarchelier lends his lens to more editorial shots these days and featured in the fist Sex and the City movie for Carrie's VOGUE shoot. But Roversi takes the cake for creating the most moody and captivating shots, thanks to his blurred quality and almost painterly technique. Applause.
