Alexander McQueen

An expression of the most significant fashion forward designer to come from London since John Galliano personifies Alexander McQueen. I cannot begin to express the extreme sadness that accompanies the news of his death this morning. To tribute his genius styling and invention is a near impossible task and one I'm not particularly prepared to do, he was in one simple word, brilliant. He wasn't just a designer, he was a master of creativity and could project that to the world that we were lucky enough to experience, with a flair and sense of humour others took very seriously. With New York Fashion week commencing next week, the London, Milan and Paris to follow, I cannot comprehend the deep regret and loss that will wave over the industry during one of the most important dates on the seasonal calendar. McQueen was always on schedule to show in Paris, and his final show last October set a new bar for the use of technology and interaction to present his other worldly collection. The shoes have been a focal point for the last six months, and he was able to use tailoring and drape on par with the experts in Vivienne Westood and the aforementioned Galliano. How this great talent will be farewelled I don't know, but with sincerest sympathies, we've lost Alexander The Great.
