New York AW10 | Day Four

Such is the precision with which Victoria Beckham executes her own personal style on a daily basis, it should come as no surprise that her eponymous label does the same. As an extension from her debut SS10 collection, Beckham has honed in on beautifully tailored pencil skirts or tops with interesting sleeve treatments. But she also relaxed the waistlines a little too, much to the relief of many of her followers I imagine, and the flow of some of her gowns softened the overall collection to perfection.
Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti has certainly toughened things up a little, trust the application of black leather to do that to an otherwise feminine collection. Her staple embroidery was there to compliment her custom, but it was a timely reminder that wearing such softness with something a slightly harder gives the look the edge it needs.
To bequest such a thought onto Lela Rose might have been misinterpreted however. Branching away from what she's perhaps more well known for, Rose kept things very durable for day. The offer was pared back completely from her usual more intricate silk pieces, but that's what we're all experiencing at the moment isn't it? Recessions will tend to do that.
Our holiday to the States couldn't come sooner, and it's no surprise to see that Donna Karan is still more than capable of putting the NY in her DK. I loved her stores the last time I visited the namesake city, if only this collection would be in stores at the time we're there.
But what I'm really excited about it this Behnaz Sarafpour Autumn Winter collection with all it's wide legged trousers and fabulous little coats. There's a bit of something for everyone in this very well executed collection, all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed.
