New York Stand Outs

How Alexander Wang managed to get Natalia Vodianova in his show I'll never know, but it was certainly worth it. He hit it out of the ball park with this one. Lingerie inspired suiting couldn't provide an innovative twist at a more appropriate time, when lingerie silk and lace is being used heavily throughout many other collections from Dior's powerful influence. But Wang brilliantly re-envisioned the suit, taking elements like pockets and tails, and applied them to masterfully cut dresses for overall effect.
Karen Walker is someone who knows her clients to the soul. For Autumn Winter 2010, velvet and shearling took over, but in the most Karen Walker of ways. Bright splashes of orange pulled this collection up, and the shoes gave a enough variety to the styling to keep things interesting. She's becoming a seasoned NY Fashion Week Staple and with collections like these in the future, I can't fault her enthusiasm.
