Paris Couture Spring 2010

All very ladies in bloom, the theatrical Christian Dior Couture Show produced a bevy of English Roses track side at an equestrian meet. How Now Brown Cow, these 2010 versions of Audrey Hepburns Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady never needed the elocution lessons, they were elegance personified.
Elegance came in a different form at Armani Prive, Giorgio Armani's Couture collection. His liquid like fabric treatment and soft colour palette took these designs into another worldly realm, and lighting the catwalk as it was, gave his models an angelic appearance. Such structure and sophistication can only be his signature and I believe this to be one of the strongest couture collections of his to date.
Perhaps Minnie Mouse was the inspiration to get the ball rolling at Chanel Couture, the start of the show was a little slow with no new ideas really put forward for the timeless Chanel Boucle Suit. As soon as designer, Karl Lagerfeld let loose with crystals and chiffon, the collection took flight and carried a very well articulated series through to the end. There was shine and mille feuille to give movement to any static look and although the hair was perhaps not the best accompaniment, it scored the bride a very gold Micky Mouse in the end. See for yourself by clicking on the label name. Enjoy.
