Snug As A Bug | Menswear AW10

Le couleur vert and surely shearling. These are the trends emerging for menswear dropped in store from about August onwards that I'm noticing from only two days of shows in Milan. They're what will influence men's style over the Christmas period next year in the northern hemisphere and at the luxury European brands here in Australia. Many of the jackets on parade from many of the design houses are also still riding on that military trend that swept through women's ready-to-wear a couple of seasons ago.
Costume National is always a favourite of mine and proves that even the simplest of details extends the intrigue of an otherwise static design.
One of the most subdued looks from Salvatore Ferragamo's show highlights that military and forrest green can be incredibly elegant, and if not all worn together, these pieces individually stand alon as key signature pieces to step away from a safer navy or chocolate brown palette.
Burberry Prorsum sets the benchmark for fantastic styling with pants tucked into boots and classic pieces accentuated with military trimmings and tailoring. Shearling looks on trend for the Autumn/Winter season and although it might not be entirely practical for an Australian climate, it's a refelction of what's happening internationally. Winter wonderland - we can only dream.
And Prada's wool lined shearling jackets mean one thing; high street stores will soon be following suit with a very wearable colour palette and great variety of trousers to suit every man's shape.
Absinthe on a cold night.
