A Stylish Turn

Setting the bar for unbelievably understated style over the last week doesn't go much farther past the likes of Camilla Belle, Chloe Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rachel Bilson.
For all the uncertainty surrounding Stefano Pilati's position as designer at Yves Saint Laurent, the first four aforementioned ladies all donned his creations for the Opera at the Met. Camilla Belle couldn't demand a more regal presence as she bares her shoulders in this stunning, age appropriate confection and the black pant suits sported by Sivegny and Goodwin reek of the famous YSL pant suit moment captured by none other than Helmut Newton. Maggie Gyllenhaal is borderline washed out in her nude slip of a gown, but her dark hair and make up pull it all back together, blonds beware of this very hard look to pull off. Finally, Rachel Bilson at another event wearing Preen gives us a taste of how to wear blush and not let it wear you. She's confident in this playful style and still pulls off the elegance the event requires with thanks to the hem line being a little longer, balancing the peek-a-boo skin further north.
To the week that was, applause.
